DDH SCREENING
Screening reduces the incidence of late detected DDH.
A late diagnosis often results in the need for more complex treatments with worse long-term hip function.
If risk factors or clinical hip instability is present…
the child should have follow-up appointments with an orthopaedic specialist accompanied by an ultrasound or radiograph.
Even if the child is not diagnosed for DDH,
these visits should occur at:
6-8 weeks
6 months
12 months
24 months
