BURDEN OF DISEASE
DDH is the most common pediatric hip condition.
DDH affects approximately 1-3% of infants.
DID YOU KNOW?
Approximately 1-3 infants per 1,000 live births are diagnosed with a dislocated hip, and a further 15-20 per 1,000 are affected by some degree of hip instability.
GLOBAL INCIDENCE
Worldwide, there are an estimated 131.4 million births per year. This means 2.0-2.6 million infants may be affected worldwide each year.
ESTIMATED IMPACTS OF DDH SCREENING
With a breech birth rate of 4%, and considering the additional risk factors of family history and history of instability, a conservative estimate of 6.6-9.2 million infants would directly benefit from improvements in DDH screening.
